Welcome...
Life's transitions,
whether they are positive or negative, happy events or sad ones, are
the most challenging and difficult times of our lives. As part of natural
law, all of us as families, couples and individuals are
called by life to move with change. No matter who we are, we have this
in common.
The outcome of our transitions depends on how we respond to them. Transitions,
if experienced fully and with support, can deepen our compassion for
ourselves and others and further our natural development as a person.
If we resist change, transitions can be the occasions to become more
rigid, out of touch with our feeling life, armored emotionally, and
ineffective in our intimate relationships.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1990, offering Clinical
Supervision, Peer Consultation, as well as Counseling and Psychotherapy
to adults, couples and families during times of change, transition and
crisis. My
private practice which is located in Lafayette, CA (Contra Costa County), just minutes from the freeway.

Bowen Family Systems and Strategic Family Therapy. License # MFC 25334.
Therapy
There are different types of therapy for different situations and
needs; I have many years experience working in both ways:
Short-term
therapy usually involves a specific problem which can be addressed
by the use of changing the way we think and behave around that particular
problem. This type of therapy usually involves specific homework for
the client after each session, and is not necessarily conducted on a
weekly basis. Usually therapy can be completed within 3 - 6 months,
or within a shorter amount of time, depending on the complexity of the
problem.
Long-term therapy, sometimes called Depth Psychotherapy,
usually involves dealing with issues that affect our emotions, moods, reactions, and behaviors that puzzle and trouble us. These problems are generally associated with family of origin issues,
childhood or adult trauma of various origins, or they can be associated with
our individual and unconscious psyche. In any case, this type of
therapy may last for two or more years and is normally conducted on
a weekly basis.
Clinical Supervision
Currently providing clinical supervision to Master level students at John F. Kennedy University, I have experience supervising
Interns and Trainees, both in private practice and in a non-profit, agency
setting. I am available to meet for Intern Supervision on both an individual
and group basis.
Consultation
As a seasoned therapist, I offer a wealth of life, educational and work
experience to all peer consultation settings. I am available to meet on
both an individual and group basis.
